Eight foreigners nabbed during vice raid in Miri

MIRI: Police arrested eight Indonesian women for their suspected involvement in prostitution during a raid at a Jalan Bendahara premises on Tuesday.

When contacted, Miri deputy police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the police also arrested a 23-year-old local woman believed to be the caretaker of the premises.

“During the 7.30pm raid, the police seized a total of 84 pieces of condoms and cash amounting to RM890,” he said.

The eight Indonesians are being investigated under Section 372A of the Penal Code for earning a living through prostitution and Section 372B of the same Code for involvement in prostitution.

“They are also being investigated under Section 6 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for staying in the state illegally and also the Rule 39 (b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 for violating their social visit passes,” Stanley said.
