“This was achieved through a loan growth of 3.5 per cent but its motor vehicle loans grew at a faster pace of 7.4 per cent.

“Based on these numbers, the company is optimistic it is in the position of achieving a net profit exceeding RM2 million in 2017,” commented executive chairman Dr Hii Sui Cheng.

He also revealed that the company is currently implementing a new hire purchase banking solution – the UCD mdule – to enable staff in all of its branches to directly sial into the central server at Sibu to better monitor and manage the portfolios.

“This should improve staff productivity while releasing staff in other branches from the tedious task of manually tracking the loans for timely payments or otherwise,” Dr Hii pointed out.

Meanwhile, Delta Leasing was accorded the Employer Excellence Platinum award by the SME Association of Malaysia in 2016.

According to Dr Hii, it was given in recognition of the fact that the company has never stopped paying bonus to its staff since the management buyout nine years ago.

It has also continuously given pay rise to all staff while its employer has given free shares to all of them once in 2004.

“Neither is its shareholders neglected as Delta Leasing has without fail declared annual dividends which have accumulated to a net payment of RM1.4 per share if he or she has held it since the MBO.

“As it is now into its 10th year of operation in Sarawak, the company has earlier in 2017 implemented a two-year corporate social responsibility (CSR) by choosing to fight against obesity in youth.”

He said that this state-wide program will benefit more than 700 youth including students throughout the state with a budget allocation of RM50,000.

Dr Hii recalled the programme was launched by Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah in March this year at Sacred Heart Secondary School Sibu.

“As the company continues to grow, we want to become a caring member of our society by pumping some of our profits into the local community.”
