KUCHING: A total of 160 Muslim pilgrims were given a send-off at Kuching International Airport (KIA) Wednesday night by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The group, comprising pilgrims from Kuching, is the fourth of five batches heading to the Holy Land for the Haj this year.
They departed on KT21Q flight at 11.40pm.
In his speech, Abang Johari congratulated them on being selected to perform their Haj this year.
“I hope that you take good care of your health while you are there so you will be able to perform all the necessary rituals,” he told them.
Also present to send the pilgrims off was Sarawak Islamic Council president Datu Misnu Taha.
A total of 1,027 Muslim pilgrims from Sarawak were selected for the Haj to the Holy Land this year.
They departed in batches from Kuching between July 30 and Aug 4 and are scheduled to return at 5pm on Sept 23.
