MIRI: The Resort City needs to intensify its efforts on promoting tourism through magazines.
Democratic Action Party (DAP) Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon said such publicity via an interesting story on tourism relevant subjects would help make Miri a preferred place to visit.
Speaking at a press conference in his service centre yesterday, Dr Ting said local tourism magazine ‘Borneo Talk’ has served its purpose in promoting the destinations, cultures, food, people and events throughout Sarawak.
He gave the thumbs-up to the magazine and suggested the Miri City Council (MCC) use it as a platform to carry more tourism articles on the city.
He said this magazine must be noticeable and easily available to the people, particularly visitors.
The feature story must be captivating to catch the attention of readers and make them want to come to explore the places beautifully featured in the magazine.
He said a total of 10 local media representatives in Sarawak would join the DAP Selangor-Penang Tours from Aug 14 to 17 this year.
The tour sponsored by DAP central will start with visiting the Selangor government, party leaders in Ipoh, and end in Penang.
“The main objective of this tour is to show the local media in Sarawak how the Selangor government runs their state, and transportation; visit the new convention centre in Penang and many others.”
