MUKAH: The technological and vocational sector has a huge job market in the state, says Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg.

He thus hopes that those looking for jobs equip themselves with technological and vocational knowledge.

According to him, the state government has introduced all kinds of effort to develop the two sectors, including setting up Tabung Gagasan Ekonomi Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (Tegas).

“The creation of Tegas is to ensure our children can be tranformed into a skilful workforce that triggers the development of Sarawak.

Not only that, the government has provided training for young people and helped them get suitable jobs,” he added.

Abang Johari said the objective was to better the livelihood of Sarawakians.

Young people should realise that the needs of the state and  country had changed.

“The world is getting more advanced, especially in technology, and everyone should embrace it,” he said.

Abang Johari’s text-of- speech was read by Minister of Education, Science and Technology Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin at Politeknik Mukah’s 10th convocation ceremony yesterday.

A total of 681 students attended the convocation.

Also present was Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo.
