Chief Minister leads list of 101 recipients of Scout awards

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud presented Malaysian Scouts Federation badges and 2017 King Scout certificates to a total of 101 recipients at the Astana Negeri yesterday.

Leading the list was Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg – also the Sarawak Scout leader – who received ‘Bintang Semangat Padi Perak’ from Taib.

Saratok MP Tan Sri William Mawan received the ‘Bintang Semangat Rimba Emas’, while the ‘Bintang Semangat Rimba Perak’ recipients were Datu Abdillah Adam and Sudaryo Osman.

Taib, who is Sarawak Scout branch patron, also presented various badges such as the ‘Pingat Perkhidmatan Gemilang’, ‘Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang’ and ‘Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia’ during the ceremony.

At the same event, Taib also handed the ‘Good Service Badge’ to 17 individuals, followed by the ‘100 Years in Service Badge’ to 10 individuals, and the ‘100 years Memorial Badge’ to 28 individuals.

Receiving the 2017 King Scout certificate were 33 youths who passed various tests prerequisite for obtaining the certification.

The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and National Chief Scout Commissioner Major-General (Rtd) Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Paduka Dr Zin Bidin.
