KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said negotiations on a 10 per cent share in Liquefied Natural Gas LNG9 (PL9SB) Sdn Bhd in Bintulu had to be put on hold because of the ongoing transaction between Petronas and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), a Thailand based oil company.

He said negotiations had resumed recently following the completion of the transaction between PTTEP and Petronas.

“It should be noted that the state (Sabah) government must negotiate for the best possible terms and this includes the price,” he said when responding to Sri Tanjong assemblyman Chan Foong Hin’s query on the deal during Sabah’s State Legislative Assembly (DUN) session yesterday.

He said the opposition need not worry because the state government would negotiate the best possible outcome on the deal.

“The YB from Sri Tanjong should also learn to speak Bahasa properly and not play around with words to suit his agenda,” he added.

In 2014, Petronas agreed to give the Sabah state government a 10 per cent stake in LNG9 after several negotiations between the two sides.
