PKR Sabah reiterates call to lift ban on its leaders

PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sabah chairperson Christina Liew has reiterated her request to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman to retract the ban imposed on PKR national party leaders to enter Sabah, given that the Sarawak State Government has lifted the ban a few days ago.

Among these leaders are Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament (MP) Nurul Izzah Anwar, Batu MP Tian Chua and Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, all of them being the vice presidents of PKR.

“What wrongs did Nurul Izzah, Tian and Rafizi do to Sabah until they are banned from visiting the State?

“They are not corrupted and do not abuse power,” the Api-Api assemblywoman said to the media at the State Legislative Assembly yesterday.

She was commenting on Musa’s statement that the State Government has the right to ban any individual with malicious intent to enter the State to poison the mind of the people and divide them at the State Legislative Assembly sitting on Monday, when Liew, in her debate, asked the State Government to retract the ban imposed on several MPs from the peninsular.

He said the State Government had the power to do so to ensure there were no elements who could create chaos and disturb public peace by entering Sabah.

“Only a stupid government will allow robbers and rogues to come to their place (state),” Musa reportedly said.

Liew cautioned Musa not to bar the PKR MPs from entering the State because they were duly elected by the people.

“All three of them, Tian, Nurul Izzah and Rafizi, are vice presidents of PKR. They are doing their job. They do not go here and there to discredit anybody, but to tell the truth,” she argued.

“If you (Musa) talk about disrupting unity, spreading false things (by opposition MPs), what about some MPs from a certain party who told rapists that they should marry the victims in order to solve the problem.

“And the MP who told Chinese to go back to China.

“These kinds of MPs should be barred. Obviously they are making statements that were disruptive to unity and harmony among the people. But they are not barred or blacklisted.”

Instead, Liew said the PKR MPs were barred because they would allegedly threaten the peace and harmony in Sabah if allowed to enter the State.

“This is very wrong,” she said.
