KUANTAN: The remand order on three staff of the Pahang Land and Mines Office (PTG) who were detained for alleged involvement in illegal bauxite mining has been extended until Aug 14.

The order was issued by Magistrate Tengku Eliana Tuan Kamaruzaman yesterday following an application from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), represented by deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Fadhly Mohd Zamri.

Mohamad Fadhly, when met by reporters, said the three suspects were PTG enforcement officers aged between 30 and 40.

He said six other PTG staff who were detained during a special operation by MACC were released on the commission’s bail yesterday.

The suspects were detained in special operations conducted by MACC following the discovery of ongoing illegal bauxite mining activities in Bukit Goh and Bukit Sagu here despite the imposition of a moratorium order by the government until Dec 31. — Bernama
