KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy call from Thailand’s ambassador to Malaysia Damrong Kraikruan at the Astana here yesterday.

The ambassador is currently on a three-day official visit to Kuching, starting Tuesday.

Accompanying him were Thai Airways Malaysia general manager Nivat Chantarachoti, Asean-China Entrepreneurs Association (ACEA) vice president Michael Liong and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) deputy vice chancellor Prof Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim.

Damrong and delegates later also paid a courtesy visit on Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here.

During the visit, they had the opportunity to discuss and exchange views on various issues such as development plans, business and tourism to foster closer ties between Sarawak and Thailand.

Royal Thai Embassy secretary Louismongkol Sapkul, ACEA president Dato Stanley Ling and Liong were also present.
