This stretch of the road was not passable to small cars.

MARUDI: The Miri-Marudi Road appears to be getting worse especially along stretches that has not been laid with gravel.

A local private transport operator told The Borneo Post that rain in the area the past few days have resulted in the condition of the mud road difficult to navigate even for 4-wheel drive vehicles let alone saloon cars. He fears that if the relevant authorities do not act quickly to improve the road condition, it will result in fewer people coming to witness the Baram Regatta which will be held here on August 25th.

The Baram Regatta which was first held in 1898 to bring together warring tribes in the Baram area is touted as the mother of regattas by the local community.
