MIRI: An employee of an oil and gas company here was arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly trying to steal a university student’s brassiere which had been hung out to dry.

The 29-year-old man was picked up around 7.30pm on Tuesday at his rented house in Senadin after the 20-year-old student lodged a police report over the incident on Sunday.

It was said that the would-be bra thief had entered the compound of the student’s house around 11pm that day and headed to where some clothes had been hung out to dry.

As the suspect was removing the undergarment from the clothesline, the student caught him in the act and started screaming, prompting him to flee the house.

It was also learned that the student had recorded the failed attempt to nick her bra on her mobile phone.

The suspect is being held pending further investigation.
