KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested 13 people over the fracas at the ‘Nothing to Hide 2.0’ forum in Shah Alam last Sunday, and will question the organiser of the gathering to assist in the investigation, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

He said the organiser was responsible for security at the event as provided for in the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 under which the permit was issued.

“It is stated clearly in the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 that the organiser is responsible for security of the audience and at the premises where the event is held.

“The police will call up the organiser for what is seen as a lack of responsibility (over security),” he said to reporters after presenting national sovereignty medals to 158 police officers and personnel at Bukit Aman yesterday.

The ‘Nothing to Hide 2.0’ forum, organised by the youth wing of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), was disrupted when several people in the audience hurled footwear, chairs, water bottles and flares and traded punches.

The commotion erupted at 5.10pm when PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was replying to a question on the Memali tragedy in Baling, Kedah, in November 1985. — Bernama
