KUCHING: A room of a third floor unit at a flat complex in Taman Suria Jaya in Matang was gutted by fire in the wee hours of yesterday.
No injuries were reported during the incident, which saw personnel from the Petra Jaya and Padungan fire stations dispatched to the scene after a distress call was received at 3.26am.
Fire fighters were able to bring the situation under control within minutes and ended the operation at 4.38am.
A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department said that the owner of the flat unit, who was alone at the time of the incident, was not hurt.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
