KUCHING: A recent meeting between Sarawak delegates and representatives of Lazada Group in China discussed about the setup and operations of the e-commerce company, which is touted as Southeast Asia’s top online shopping site.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan led the state delegation to visit the Lazada team in Shenzhen, China.

In a press statement issued yesterday, the discussion between the two parties also touched about cross-border commerce.

“This is in line with the state’s aim of embracing the digital economy, especially by encouraging our small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to promote and export their products beyond borders,” said the statement.

Assistant Minister of E-Commerce and Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Assistant Minister of Industries and Investment Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, and Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) chief executive officer Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot were among the delegates.
