Barito Kuala Police arrests ship’s GPS thief

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: The joint team of Crime with Violence (Jatanras) Unit police of Crime Detective (Satreskrim) Unit of Barito Kuala (Batola) and Berangas Police arrested the perpetrator of ship’s GPS theft in the city, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“The perpetrator on behalf of Al (36) committed the theft at the office of Jaya Borneo Makmur on Jalan Arya Pujangga, East Berangas Village, Alalak, Barito Kuala District,” said Head of Batola Crime Detective Police AKP Sakun SH in Marabahan on Tuesday.

He said the theft case occurred on January 13, 2017. One ship GPS compass of Furuno type gp32 and one ship radar of Furuno type F64 (64mil) was stolen from the office of Jaya Borneo Makmur. On the incident, the company suffered a loss of about Rp 92,000,000 and reported to Berangas Police.

Former Chief of Banjarmasin Mobile Detectives said on Monday (21/8) that at about 14:00 the police got information about the existence of the perpetrator.

The joint team of Jatanras Batola Police and Berangas detective police immediately caught the suspect in the heap of Hasan Leo sand.

The Officers brought the perpetrator to his home in the village of Beringin, Sub-district of Alalak, to take the evidence.

“We found a radar antenna cable roller and a radar monitor. With the evidence the perpetrator was charged as intended in Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a prison sanctions of above five years,” said the man who once served as the Gambut Police Chief.
