SIBU: A nurse working at Sibu Hospital said the Borneo Post Run (BP Run) has encouraged her to keep a healthy lifestyle.

“I’ve been a keen supporter of the BP Run since its inaugural event in 2011,” said the nurse, who only wants to be identified as Monica.

“I think BP Run is a very good event as it encourages everyone to stay active.

“If you were very active before but no longer active now, you might gain weight and lose your stamina, especially if your age is catching up.

“So, I think BP Run is a great promoter of a healthy lifestyle,” she reiterated.

Monica has been very active in sports since her school days, though having slowed down lately due to work commitments.

Now in her 40s, she said she could not be as active as she used to be in her 20s or 30s.

Monica is in for the 10km Women’s Open for the coming BP Run on Aug 31.

She is not expecting to be among the first few runners to complete the race.

“I haven’t gone into serious training,” she explained.

She said she has also entered the run to meet friends and to have fun.

“Some of the nurses and doctors are joining as well, but we did not register together.  On that day, we normally meet one another.

“Normally, after the run, we have a drink before going our separate ways,” she said.
