Introducing the Tutong River Jetty Area as A Destination Package Ceremony

TUTONG: Stakeholders in the tourism industry are welcomed to establish a business agreement which will produce a positive impact in the country’s tourism sector. The Minister of Primary resources and Tourism urged airline companies, hotels and travel agencies to take the opportunity to collaborate with tour package operators in order to add diversity and choices to the package, brudirect.com reported.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong made the call at the ceremony to introduce the Tutong River Jetty Area as a Tutong Destination Package yesterday. Efforts to promote tourism in the Tutong District, Yang Berhormat explained, has received cooperation from stakeholders in the tourism industry that conduct tour packages in order to further disseminate about interesting destinations in the country.

Yang Berhormat added, this has been proven with the increase in the number of domestic and international tourists who have selected the Tutong District as their vacation’s tourism destination. According to statistics from the Tutong District Tourism Promotion and Coordination Body, one thousand 680 tourists have visited various places of interest in the district last year.

As a continuous effort in promoting Brunei Darussalam as a unique tourism destination, 8 Tutong Destination Packages were introduced. The joint venture between the Tourism Development Department and Tutong District Tourism Promotion and Coordination Body introduced the ‘2 days 1 night’ and ‘day trip’ packages.

The function ran concurrently with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Kampong Tasek Merimbun Consultative Council and Hasa Incentives Sendirian Berhad. Also signing were representatives from Perusahaan Puteri Maya, Perusahaan Seri Melati and Sinar Tour Sendirian Berhad. The signing was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong.

Yang Berhormat and delegation then was taken on the Tutong River Cruise. The package offered gave the opportunity for tourists to see some places of interest including the view of Tutong Town, The Tutong River Landmark and “Lurah Saban” which is the history of the Tutong community’s beginning. Also present were heads of diplomatic missions, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esung and Yang Berhormat Haji Abdul Hamid @ Sabli Bin Haji Arsad, members of the Legislative Council and Dr Haji Abdul Manaf Bin Haji Metussin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Awang Wardi Bin Haji Mohammad Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary resources and Tourism, Members of the Brunei Tourism Board and Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, the Tutong District Officer.
