Sinaran Ratu Siska is ‘Raja Sungai Batang Kayan’

LUNDU: Sinaran Ratu Siska emerged as the ‘Raja Sungai Batang Kayan’ for the ‘Bidar 30 Paddlers Men’ category at the Regatta Sungai Batang Kayan 2017 here yesterday.

The team completed the 2.4km race with a time of 8 minutes and 14 seconds defeating Yayasan Sarawak Puteri Dang Balai into second place by only two seconds.

The third place was won by Cahaya Sulung, recording a time of 8 minutes and 32 seconds.

The regatta was witnessed by more than 5,000 people at the Lundu Waterfront. Sinaran Ratu Siska’s win saw them bringing home the Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu Champion Trophy as well as a cash prize of RM4,000 which was presented by Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

Yayasan Sarawak’s Puteri Dang Balai and Cahaya Sulung each won a trophy as well as cash prizes of RM3,000 and RM2,000 respectively.

On the other hand, the ‘Bidar 20 Paddlers Men’ was won by Yayasan Sarawak Puteri Dang Balai who defeated Buraq Terbang 1 and Sinaran Ratu Siska into second and third place respectively while the ‘Bidar 15 Paddlers Men’ saw Buraq Terbang 2 emerged as the winner followed by Mahkota Dewa Gedong and Cahaya Intan.

For the ‘Bidar 10 Paddlers Men’, the race was dominated by Cahaya Intan 3 teams which won first and second place while the third place went to Mahkota Dewa. This year’s Regatta Sungai Batang Kayan which started on Aug 25 and ended yesterday attracted 155 participating teams which competed in 21 categories of the annual boat race.
