KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has urged academicians and teachers to keep abreast with the latest trend and innovation in English language education to ensure the language could be effectively taught.

To stay ahead in the teaching of the international language, those involved must find ways and acquire the relevant skills to make lessons interesting for students.

“While I am not an educator, I believe that teaching English requires one to be creative and have the ability to keep lessons interesting, especially in areas where this language is widely spoken.

“The ability to communicate effectively in English is crucial in a borderless world, which allows us to interact with global

citizens through various platforms, including that of the internet,” he said in his speech text at the 26th Malaysian English Language Teaching Association (MELTA) conference here yesterday.

The speech text at the conference held in the TH Hotel here was delivered by Sabah Community Development and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid.

Musa noted it was crucial for classroom practices to stay relevant to the learning needs of the younger generation and adapt to global trends.— Bernama
