KUCHING: Cita Information Systems Sdn Bhd (CISSB), a Bumiputera wholly-owned Sarawak company, won the Gold Award in the Medium category of the Chief Minister Industry Excellence Awards (CMIEA) at Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) Gala Night held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) recently.

CMIEA was introduced for the first time by the state government and SBF in collaboration with Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) to honour and give recognition to outstanding businesses in Sarawak.

The award which is adopted from the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri (AKI) was assessed based on the Malaysia Business Excellence Framework (MBEF) and is regarded as the state’s highest corporate award.

This was the first time CISSB took part in any award competition and despite the short time, the preparation and compilation of a comprehensive and compact set of documents were painstakingly done in-house by a team headed by the company’s general manager Anthony Ah Leng Kona, and this proved to be a lesson well learned and a worthy experience for our own staff in such endeavour.

Commenting further, the company’s managing director Datuk Kristoffer Nyuak Bajok said the Gold Award was certainly a ‘feather in the cap’ for the company and it certainly would spur more innovation and continuous improvement to complement the company’s existing practices of management tools like ISO 9001: 2015, 5S and Lean Management. He mentioned that the company was spearheading efforts towards Business Excellence Status.

Nyuak received the award from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Those present on stage to witness the presentation of the award were Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian, Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and SBF president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg.
