MIRI: The Curtin Bowling Club and the Sports and Recreation Services section of Curtin University, Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) will be organising the 2nd Curtin Malaysia Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor’s Cup bowling competition at Megalanes East Bowling Centre, Bintang Megamall on Oct 28.

It will be the largest bowling competition organised by Curtin Malaysia for 2017 and bowling enthusiasts of all ages from East Malaysia and Brunei are encouraged to participate along with players from Curtin Malaysia.

Prizes amounting to RM5,850 will be awarded to the winners, in addition to trophies, hampers and certificates of participation.

They are also eligible for the Best Male Player and Best Female Player awards.

According to Curtin Bowling Club advisor Jameson Malang, the competition aims to promote bowling as a fun and healthy activity among the participants.

It is also hoped that it would build closer rapport between the bowling communities in East Malaysia and Brunei, he added.

The competition comprises two categories – a closed ‘Curtin Category’ for staff and students from 9am to 2pm, and open ‘Public Category’ from 2pm to 7pm.

The registration fee for the Public Category is RM200 per team and RM120 for the Curtin Category. Each team can field a maximum of four players.

Registration forms are available at Megalanes East Bowling Centre and the closing date is on Oct 21.

The inaugural competition last year saw 92 bowlers from Miri, Sibu, Bintulu and Brunei taking part, with winners took home RM5,500 worth of prizes.

Curtin Bowling Club is also seeking sponsorship from corporations and individuals.
