Name powerful politician sponsoring Parti Anak Negeri, Mositun told

KOTA KINABALU: President of Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri (Parti Anak Negeri), Datuk Henrynus Amin, has advised Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) secretary general Datuk Johnny Mositun not to speculate on Parti Anak Negeri as a new political party which he knows nothing about.

“If he has the balls, I am challenging Mositun to name the so-called powerful politician sponsoring the party,” Henrynus said in a statement in response to statements attributed to Mositun, who alleged that “the party (Parti Anak Negeri) was being sponsored by certain powerful politician with the aim of keeping the KDM (Kadazandusun Murut community) divided for selfish reasons.

Henrynus advised Mositun to just name the person whom he insinuated as the sponsor of Parti Anak Negeri and not demonize the party for fun.

“Perhaps PBS is being fearful of facing the 14th general election (GE14) and is also being desperate for issues leading to Mositun having to resort to deliberate lies, deceits and below-the-belt tactics to create doubts on Parti Anak Negeri’s credentials as an opposition political party,” he said.

He said Mositun obviously knows what is coming in GE14, especially the fact that PBS would most likely lose all its seats to a highly motivated new opposition political party.

Henrynus said he is not surprised if Mositun was indeed the man behind the spread of unfounded rumours about Parti Anak Negeri being sponsored by a powerful politician to divide the Momoguns.

“In one of his WhatsApp postings a few months ago, Mositun was insinuating on my appointment by the Chief Minister of Sabah as chairman of Lahad Datu Flour Mill (LDFM) as proof of my Umno connection,” he said.

“For the record, I have voluntarily tendered my resignation from LDFM in writing recently as I am no longer supporting BN Sabah,” he said.

“But Mositun did not check his facts and continued to spread unfounded rumours in WhatsApp chatroom about Parti Anak Negeri by pointing his finger at innocent politicians who have nothing to do with the formation of (my) party. I did not meet the Chief Minister or any powerful Umno politician and I have no intention to meet any politician linked to Umno. So I categorically deny Mositun’s insinuation which is highly malicious and defamatory.”

“If PBS was the source of the rumours, they must know something I do not know. I therefore once again challenge Mositun to bare all his allegations and be bold to face the consequences. I am sure the Chief Minister would not be amused too that PBS is resorting to desperate measures to stay afloat or to be politically relevant,” Henrynus remarked.

Contrary to Mositun’s speculation or rather allegation, Parti Anak Negeri, Henrynus said, is entirely on its own though struggling with little resources to face political giants in GE14.

Parti Anak Negeri, he said, understands the political undercurrent, especially the cries of marginalized communities of all races and religious groups, who are silently suffering under the current BN regime.

“So regardless, with or without big financial support, we are pushing on with our five-point political agenda and build the party solely based on the support and goodwill of the people of Sabah,” he said.

However, Henrynus is also ruing the fact that other opposition political parties with doubtful intent are using the same tactics to create doubt on Parti Anak Negeri for their political gain.

“Those speculating on Parti Anak Negeri will be deeply disappointed because the party is leaning towards collaboration with other opposition political parties, including national based Pakatan Harapan with similar aims and objectives and soon its anti-Umno or anti BN rhetorics will speak for itself.”
