MIRI: Fajar International College (FIC) recently rewarded student Fidelia Limang Telajan for being part of Malaysia’s SEA Games bronze medal winning rugby team.

Fidelia is currently taking the Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (DipOSH) at FIC.

FIC CEO Dr Peter Tham presented her with a certificate of commendation, RM500, and scholarships recently.

The DipOSH is to date the only college diploma in OSH with recognition from the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (Dosh) Malaysia and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) United Kingdom.

“It is imperative that potential diploma students are made aware that only graduates with an OSH diploma that is recognised by Dosh can apply for the Green Book and continue to register as safety health officers (SHO),” Tham said.

He said upon successful completion of the course and the required experience, graduates will be eligible to apply for the safety passport or Green Book, and register with Dosh as an SHO in Malaysia.

“Not only does the Green Book vouch for the credibility of the safety officer, which is duly recognised by the relevant authorities, but also allows the holder to confidently and freely work with both the private and public sectors in Malaysia,” he added.
