SMK Tabuan Jaya athletes lead, St Joseph’s Private impress

KUCHING: SMK Tabuan Jaya are in the lead at the MSSM Kuching Track and Field Development Championship after the second day of competition at the Sarawak Stadium in Petra Jaya yesterday.

The state sports school, who fielded 49 athletes, collected 18 gold, 17 silver and eight bronze medals to lead 39 other schools in the Kuching Division in the meet aimed at unearthing new talents to represent Kuching in the inter-division track and field development championship.

SMK Lundu are in second place with 11-3-8 while St Joseph’s Private (Secondary) School impressed with 5-9-5 to sit in third place.

The fourth to 10th positions are occupied by Chung Hua Middle School No 1 (5-2-3), SM Lodge (4-1-2), SMK Batu Lintang (3-7-5), SMK Santubong (3-3-4), SMK Green Road (3-2-1), SMK St Joseph (2-4-2) and SMK Kuching High (1-3-0).

Eight hundred and two students from 40 schools in Kuching Division are taking part in the field (throw) events at SMK St Joseph on Sept 18 (Day 1) and in the track and field events at the Sarawak Stadium from Sept 20 to 21.
