SIBU: A total of 30 participants, including one from Selangor, will participate in the inaugural Strongman contest to be held at Sibu Jaya Town Square on Oct 7 at 7am.
The event is part of the activities to mark Pesta Sibu Jaya which will be held at the same venue from Oct 6 to 8.
Event organiser Donal Gilbert said the contest comprises seven disciplines – tyre flip, atlas stone, car deadlift, fingals finger, truck pulling, loading race (three items) and yoke walk.
The champion will bring home RM1,200 while the first runner-up will get RM800 and the second runner-up RM600.
Fourth to 10th place competitors will also receive cash prizes.
All the winners will each get a medal, hamper and a certificate.
The event is sanctioned by Malaysia Strongman Club and it also offers national ranking points.
Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee is expected to officiate at the event at 7.30am.
