SIBU: The Lions Club of Sibu Dudong donated cash to aid a woman who has resorted to growing vegetables in her backyard to support her family and cancer-stricken husband.

Lucy Thian’s husband, 41-year-old Kong Sing Hua, is stricken with cancer and unable to work for many years.

The couple has four daughters and three sons from the age of two to 17.

Lucy said she could not do much but grow vegetables at the back of her house to earn her family’s keep.

The donation was handed over to her during the club’s recent office-bearers inauguration at RH Hotel here.

Club’s charter president Kapitan Connie Loh presented the cheque, witnessed by club patron Datuk Tiong Thai King, Lions District 308-A2 governor Pelly Lee and Lions Multi District 308 Council chairman William SL Tan.
