MPC organises 23 programmes for private, public sectors in Sarawak

KUCHING: The Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), Sarawak Region, will be organising 23 programmes to make the private and public sectors in the state more efficient early next year.

Its director Tengku Azmi Tengku Majid said the target group would be those at managerial and executive levels.

“This is because the initiative will be effective if done this way and would not cause the companies too much in terms of financial resources.

“Those in the higher level will then be able to share what he have taught during the programmes with employees in the lower categories in their respective companies,” he said when met at the Excellent Business Learning Sharing session (Sesi Perkongsian Misi Pembelajaran Kecemerlangan Perniagaan) here recently.

He further said all the participants who took part in two ‘Business Excellence’ learning missions in Jakarta, Indonesia and in Johor Bahru and Shah Alam would be called to participate in the programmes.

He also said the programme that was held yesterday attracted participation not only from Sarawakians but also those from Peninsular Malaysia.

“With us are 43 participants from 16 private agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs) from throughout the country even though the programme is only implemented in Sarawak.

“We hope that we can encourage them through their visits so that they can adopt what they have learnt in their workplaces,” he said, adding that it cost their companies quite a sum to send them to the programme.

However, how much they learn would depend on the ability and capacity of the participants, he added.

‘Once they have completed the programme, the participants can share and exchange ideas and knowledge through a similar forum in their own companies,” he said.

Tengku Azmi said their intention is to assist public and private institutions in Sarawak to be on par with those in Peninsular Malaysia.
