Two shot dead at coffeeshop in Sibu, police investigating

Two men are believed to have been shot dead in the incident.

SIBU: Two men have been shot and killed in broad daylight at a coffee shop at Pelawan Road, Sibu.

The two men identified as Lau, 47, and Loh, 21, died on the spot.

The attack occurred when they were having some drinks with a girlfriend, said to be a Chinese national, at the sidewalk of the café at around 12pm today.

The assailant, who was wearing a helmet and clad in a red jacket, approached the three, whipped a gun and fired several shots at the victims from a distance of about five metres.

The man, who then fled on a motorcycle parked nearby, was believed to have used a pistol based on the casings found at the scene.

Lau, widely known as Ah Kang, was also involved in two shooting incidents in 2012 and 2014, with the former killing his wife.

The police have confirmed the shooting and are investigating.

“It is still too early to disclose any details as the scene is being processed. We will issue a statement later,” state CID chief Datuk Dev Kumar said when contacted.
