KUCHING: A 37-year-old Sarawak jersey worn by legendary Sarawakian striker James Yaacob in the 1980 Malaysia Cup football game will be among items on display at “Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak” at Putra World Trade Centre on Saturday.

Sarawak Jerseys Collectors (SJC) spokesperson Bartika Lariwoo said 150 jerseys from various eras will definitely ignite the sweet memories of Sarawak’s football success among the Peninsular Malaysia-based Sarawakians expected to attend the event.

“We have jerseys from Ngap Sayot, Bujang Senang and more recent ones including those belonging to David Evans, Ramos Sari, Ramles Sari, Pengiran Bala, Dahlan Matussin, Razak Ismail, Bobby Pian, Safee Sali and many others.

“We want to share the passion and information with Sarawakians based in Peninsular Malaysia, especially the students – to instill the love and pride of being Sarawakian,” he said.

This is the second time SJC is participating in the programme, following their success in 2016.

They will also be showcasing football scarves, medals, magazines and newspaper cuttings on Sarawak football.

The booth opens from 8am to 6pm.
