MARUDI: The roofing of a walkway at SMK Telang Usan here, built at a cost of RM35,000 has been completed.
The money for the construction came from Mulu assemblyman Dato Gerawat Gala’s allocation while the cemented footpath was built on gotong-royong basis using fund (RM5,000) from the school’s parent-teacher association.
The project is one of many planned for this year, said the principal Abdul Rahman Abdullah @ Nicholas Kanyan during the opening of the walkway yesterday morning.
Nicholas said since helming the school in late 2015 he had seen many positive changes, among them the improved results in PT3 and SPM examinations.
“We hope to see another good results this year,” he said.
A political secretary to chief minister, Charles Balan Seling on behalf of Gerawat, was on hand to declare open the roofed walkway.
