KUCHING: Sarawak is still in the spotlight as the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI) pegs the state as being one to ‘watch out for’ in Malaysia in terms of economic and industrial transformation and development over the next 20 years.
This sentiment was shared by ASLI chief executive officer Tan Sri Dr Michael Yeoh during the fourth edition of the annual Sarawak Business and Investment Summit yesterday, organised every year to showcase Sarawak as a leading, vibrant and dynamic state and as an attractive investment destination with a robust business environment.
“We are confident that Sarawak will be the state to watch in Malayisa,” he said in his speech.
“For this, we believe Sarawak will be the leading state for economic and industrial transformation and development in Malaysia over the next 20 years.”
The summit will focus on four key issues of sectors that will further propel Sarawak further into the future, Yeoh said.
This includes digital economy transformation, SCORE (renewable energy), infrastructure development and tourism which are key sectors driving growth and transformation in the state.
Yeoh went on to note that although Sarawak has many rich natural resources, he believed that the people are the most valuable and greatest assets, something which the state government, the business community and others should focus on and develop further.
The 4th Sarawak Business and Investment Summit is a timely platform to review the state governement’s strategic, complementary two-pronged direction and provide up-to-date business and investment outlook to help industry captains, entrepreneurs and regulators reassess their future plants.
