Kotabaru athlete hospitalized, hit by gas tube

TABALONG, South Kalimantan: An athlete from Kotabaru, Herlina, was rushed to Dr. Badarudin Tabalong General Hospital because of a hit by gas tubes after a 1,500-meter race, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

The health team of the tenth South Kalimantan Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) Syafarudin Syukur here on Tuesday said the team was worried about her injured after being hit by gas cylinders, so she was immediately rushed to the hospital.

“Alhamdulillah after being X-rayed, according to the doctor, no crack occurred to her,” he said.

He recounted the incident occurred when Herlina and several athletes installed oxygen after the running race class 1,500 meters.

“Suddenly a gas cylinder collapsed and hit the victim right about the chin and mouth,” he explained.

Worried that there will be an injury to Herlina who will follow the 400 meters class race, the victim was immediately rushed to Badarudin Hospital to get intensive treatment.

After an x-ray examination, the surgeon explained that no cracks or anything else occurred.

KONI Honorary Board who is also Advisory Board H Rudi Suryana said this as a disaster. He thanked the medical team who immediately took action to the victim.

“We hope this accident became a lesson for all parties and hopefully Herlina always healthy and can follow the next race,” he said.
