KUCHING: Some 4,000 local and foreign bikers will participate in the second edition of the Kuching International Bikers Week (KIBW) 2017, happening from October 13 to 15 at CityOne Megamall.

The first edition of KIBW was held in 2015.

According to Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, the foreign participants are from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and India, while others are from Sabah, Labuan and Peninsular Malaysia.

The local participants are from across the state, he added.

Abdul Karim said the event will also be participated by Aaron Twite, a world-famous stunt rider who will perform  at the rooftop of CityOne Megamall during the three-day event.

“After a successful event in 2015, we are holding the international event this year again to bring in international bikers who we believe will help to promote Kuching and Sarawak in general as a tourist destination for such sport,” he told a press conference at his Baitulmakmur office in Petra Jaya.

While they are here, the bikers are expected to visit a few destinations, including Siniawan Old bazaar, Kuching City South Council (MBKS) and Kuching City North Commission (DBKU).
