MPOB: palm oil stocks up 3.98 per cent in Sept

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s total palm oil stocks in September 2017 rose by 3.98 per cent to 2.01 million tonnes from 1.94 million tonnes in August, said the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).

In a statement yesterday, MPOB said crude palm oil (CPO) stocks rose by 0.96 per cent to 1.06 million tonnes during the month under review from 1.05 tonnes registered a month earlier.

Stocks of processed palm oil increased 7.58 per cent to 952,550 tonnes from 885,430 tonnes, it said.

On production, MPOB said, CPO output declined 1.69 per cent to 1.77 million tonnes in September from 1.81 million tonnes recorded in the previous month.

Palm kernel output increased 1.28 per cent to 442,068 tonnes in September versus August’s production of 447,786 tonnes, it said.

It said exports rose 1.82 per cent to 1.51 million tonnes in September from 1.48 million tonnes recorded in August.

The board said export of oleochemicals declined 11.12 per cent to 233,069 tonnes in September from 262,221 tonnes a month before.

Palm kernel oil exports fell 4.33 per cent to 88,439 tonnes in September from 92,438 tonnes recorded in the previous month but palm kernel cake rose 16.08 per cent to 209,614 tonnes from 180,570 tonnes previously, it said. — Bernama
