Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie issued the remand order after allowing an application by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to detain the man until Oct 15 to help in investigations under Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009.

The man, who was detained after giving a statement at the Sabah MACC office yesterday, is among seven individuals detained to date to help in investigations over alleged misappropriation of funds for rural projects amounting to RM180 million, said to be part of the estimated RM1.5 billion misappropriated in a ministry.
