KUCHING: A 24-year-old man who tested positive for the drug methamphetamine admitted to raping his 15-year-old girlfriend at his home in Jalan Padungan since December 2016.
Kuching police district chief Abang Ahmad Abang Julai, who confirmed the case, said the arrest was made along Jalan Wan Abdul Rahman on Oct 12 at 10am by a team from the Kuching district Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Two mobile phones were seized from the suspect and the case is currently being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
The rape came to light when the girl’s mother was called to the school to reclaim her mobile phone which was confiscated by the school’s disciplinary teacher.
The disciplinary teacher who browsed through the mobile phone’s photo gallery was shocked to discover pictures of the girl in bed with a man.
After discussing the matter with the girl’s mother, a police report was lodged which also led the 15-year-old girl to admit her sexual relationship with the man whom she knew through the text messaging application WeChat since December 2016.
