Eight exponents head to China for exposure stint

KUCHING: Eight members of the Sarawak Sukma XIX wushu shadow team will be undergoing an exposure stint in the Fujian Province, China from Oct 12 to Nov 9.

They are gold medallists from Sukma XVIII Clement Ting Su Wei, Elvic Bong Qian Zheng and Muhammad Asri Abdul Wahab, Clement Thian Fung Seng, Chiew Sow Hong, Lee Cau Peng, Stephanie Ngu Cai Ern and Mandy Lim Xin Hui.

The athletes are accompanied by team leader James Ting who is Wushu Federation of Sarawak (WFS) deputy president, head coach Yoong Thong Foong and coach Lau Hui Wei.

“The objective of the exposure stint is to improve the athletes’ skills, application of difficult requirement sand absorb new skills of optional events for the 19th Sukma in Perak next year.

“They are also the best potential medallists for Perak Sukma and it has been our practice to send the athletes to China for exposure in preparation for their challenge in Sukma,” said Ting when met at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) early yesterday.
