LIMBANG: Two women were charged for prostituting an underaged girl here in April.
One of the women, 30, is also the 14-year-old victim’s biological mother. She is accused of committing the offence with another woman, 45, who is a karaoke joint operator.
According to state CID chief Datuk Dev Kumar, both were charged in front of magistrate Keli Mareng but no plea was taken from them.
The women were charged under Section 372(1)(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 15 years and liable to whipping on conviction.
They are allowed bail of RM8,000 with two sureties on each of the accused and further ordered them to report to the Lawas CID office once a week.
Both accused were represented by counsel Willie Liau.
