Unemployment in South Kalimantan 3.36 percent

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Head of South Kalimantan Manpower and Transmigration Agency (Disnakertrans) Antonius Simbolon said the unemployment rate in South Kalimantan until August 2017 was 3.36 percent from 3.7 million of the population, Antaranews reported.

“The number of unemployment is still below the economic growth rate of South Kalimantan which is 3.64 percent,” said Antonius Simbolon in Banjarmasin, Wednesday.

According to him, the province’s unemployment rate of 3.36 percent is still below the national average rate of 5.33 percent of the total population of Indonesia.

In an effort to overcome the unemployment, he explained, one of which is through investment that opens a new field of work in South Kalimantan, such as in the field of the plantation, mining, and other industries.

In addition, he said, the local government must synergize between the work units of regional apparatus, both at the provincial and district and cities levels in South Kalimantan.

In an effort to open new jobs, he explained, the Government of South Kalimantan will held Job Fair 2017 through the website and so far as many as 1300 job seekers have registered.

33 companies from banking, coal mines, trade and electricity follow the Job Fair 2017 which is planned to be held from 17 to 19 October, 2017 at Sultan Suriansyah Building Banjarmasin.

“I hope people take their chances of the job opportunities in Job Fair 2017, because there are about 2,500 jobs opened in 33 companies in South Kalimantan,” he said.
