KUCHING: Members of the Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) are urged to heed the call by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to bring Sarawak into the realm of digital economy.

Saberkas deputy president Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said Abang Johari, who is also the president of Saberkas, is bringing several new policies to bring developments to the people of Sarawak, especially the youths.

“Among the policies is the digital economy which will cover the industrial, commercial and agriculture sectors,” said Sagah during the Saberkas 15th TGH dinner at Hilton Hotel on Saturday.

With these sectors becoming heavily involved in digital economy, Sarawak he said would be entering a new era which could not fully materialise without the support of the people especially the youths.

“I believe you (youths) can do it better than anybody else,” said Sagah who is also the Assistant Minister of Native Land Development.

Also speaking was Saberkas secretary general Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi who said the dinner acted as a platform for all Saberkas members throughout the state to break the ice and mingle with each other.

Saberkas he added is the largest fraternity in Sarawak and becoming a member would mean being a part of a big family.

“Saberkas has also proven to unite people from different backgrounds, race and religion in Sarawak,” said Abdul Rahman who is also Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity.

Also present at the dinner were Assistant Minister of Corporate Affairs Abdullah Saidol; Assistant Minister of Law, State, Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali; Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau; Saribas assemblyman Razi Sitam and Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu.
