MIRI: Public-listed upstream oil and gas services provider Dayang Enterprise Sdn Bhd (Dayang) perseveres in implementing Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (QHSSE) programmes in all levels of their operations.

Its deputy managing director Joe Ling said the QHSSE launching yesterday was the company’s culture of protecting everyone’s health and creating a safe environment.

“Despite the economic turbulence and scale-down of activities, we are still making tangible efforts to promote the importance of QHSSE among us, that include blood donation, talks and campaign like today,” he said at the launch of the QHSSE campaign here yesterday.

He said the goals were to find purpose of QHSSE in line with the campaign’s theme ‘Sustainable Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Performance’.

“Purpose is what creates true happiness and advancement, purpose is what brings us here together today. But it’s not enough to have purpose yourself. You have to create a sense of purpose for others,” he said.

Ling outlined three ways to create an environment where everyone has a sense of purpose. Firstly, by taking on setting the goals, secondly, by defining opportunity so that everyone is able to pursue purpose, and thirdly, by building a safe working environment consciously. He said the purpose of goal-setting is to create a journey whereby everyone can participate and contribute through a safe journey together and safe working environment. From here, the tangible and invaluable results will be life-saving, prevention from injury and property damage.

The launch of the QHSSE programme, held at a leading golf club here, was attended by 130 people including representatives from Petronas, Shell, Murphy Oil, Nippon Oil and Dayang management and staff.

Activities held as part of the launch were talks, presentation and exhibition booths on QHSSE pertinent to the industry. Prior to the launch, a blood donation drive was held on Sept 27 at Dayang’s head office here.
