KOTA KINABALU: Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (Harapan Rakyat) has announced that it will be fielding its vice president Ahsim Jamat in the 14th general election.

Ahsim could be contesting in Karambunai or the new state seat, Darau.

He is the second Parti Harapan Rakyat leader after deputy president Datuk Maijol Mahap, identified as the party’s candidate in the coming election. Maijol was announced as the party¡¦s candidate for Kota Marudu parliamentary seat.

Ahsim’s candidacy was announced by party president Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin at Parti Harapan Rakyat Sepanggar division’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday.

Lajim said that the announcement was made to prove that the party had new faces who have the ability to fight for the rights of the people and state.

The announcement was made after consideration of seats allocation among members of Gabungan Sabah, Lajim said.

According to Lajim, he is confident that Ahsim’s commitment in the party’s struggles will be an asset in its efforts to give Barisan Nasional (BN) a run for its money.

“Parti Harapan Rakyat has many more new faces who are educated and professional in their careers. They will be in the frontline to help in the party’s struggles to regain the state and people’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963,” Lajim stressed.
