KUCHING: An Indonesian national who was married to a local woman has been reported missing while out catching crab in the sea near Kampung Gerigat, Kabong, Sarawak, on Monday.

Abu Sahir Saleh, 41, who is from Singkawang, Indonesia, reportedly left his house at about 1am on Monday to catch crab in the sea, but has failed to return home since.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s operation centre spokeperson said the department received information on the incident yesterday at 1.52 pm from Kabong police station.

The earlier efforts to find the victim, carried out by his colleagues, however, failed to locate him, he said.

He said the subsequent joint search and rescue operations by firefighters, police and the public, carried out  within two kilometres radius from Muara Gerigat to Muara Selalang, still failed to locate the victim. — Bernama
