KUCHING: Sarawak Society for Parents of Children with Special Needs (Pibakat) recently received support from Sarawak Energy for its ‘Braveheart Extraordinaire! Run 2017’.

The charity run on Sunday (Oct 22) is organised by Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (DUBS) women’s wing Dewanita in collaboration with Pibakat.

Proceeds will go to Pibakat, which aims to create awareness of children and individuals with disabilities among the community and change society’s outlook towards them.

“Employees of Sarawak Energy are also taking part in this charity run, as we believe in reaching out to our community by instilling the caring and sharing spirit in the corporate culture,” Sarawak Energy assistant general manager for corporate social responsibility Jiwari Abdullah said during the cheque presentation ceremony.

The run categories are 1.5km, 5km, 10km and 15km, which will start and finish at Sarawak State Library.

Organisers are targeting 2,000 runners for the event.

Pibakat is a tax-exempted non-governmental organisation.
