KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has formed a task force to closely monitor the investigations on the allegation of extramarital affair against chief commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali said the task force was formed on Oct 16.

“In view of the seriousness of the allegation that can affect the integrity of the Chief Commissioner of MACC, the AGC has formed a task force on Oct 16 2017 to closely monitor the investigations on the alleged offences under section 498 of the Penal Code and other related offences,”  he said in a press release yesterday.

He said this in relation to ongoing police  investigations into a number of reports against the Chief Commissioner.

Mohamed Apandi said, on this note, the AGC also cautioned and reminded all parties from making any comments that could jeopardize the ongoing investigations.

He said in line with the current best practices of prosecutorial policy, the AGC would also ensure that the investigations would not discourage whistle blowers or competent witnesses from coming forward to assist the investigations, so that the truth shall prevail.

“The AGC would like to assure the public that the Attorney-General, in his capacity as the Public Prosecutor as provided under Article 145(3) of the Federal Constitution, shall exercise his discretion on this matter, as in all other matters, judiciously and in accordance with the law, be it procedural or substantive law.

“The AGC is steadfast in upholding justice, and the Rule of Law, “ he said. — Bernama
