Association to hold Sarawak Open Weightlifting C’ship

KUCHING: The Sarawak Weightlifting Association (PABNS) will be organising the Sarawak Open Weightlifting  Championship 2017 at the Sarawak Youth and Sports Complex multi-purpose hall here from Oct 23 to 28.

“This championship is to unearth new talents and promote healthy sports activities,” said Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan at a press conference yesterday.

The competition, which is also aimed at uplifting the status of the sport in the state, is supported by the state government, National Sports Council and Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS).

About 14 teams and 150 weightlifters from all across the country will take part in the competition.

It is divided into two categories – Junior (15 to 20 years old) and Senior (15 and above).

Also present were MSNS    director Dr Ong Kong Swee, PABNS avenue manager Mike Lim and deputy secretary Richard Silo.
