KUCHING: DAP will bring to the attention of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) at the coming sitting the plight of house buyers, particularly those who bought low-cost houses and flats, who have yet to receive titles to their properties.

Its state chairman Chong Chieng Jen said he would urge the government to give the house buyers the titles as soon as possible.

“We (DAP) will definitely raise the issue of non-issuance of titles in the coming DUN sitting with the hope that house buyers will get the titles as soon as possible,” Chong who is Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament told reporters at DAP headquarters in Kuching yesterday.

The press conference was also attended by several house buyers who have not been issued the titles.

According to Chong, many housing projects and flats under Housing Development Corporation (HDC) have not been issued with titles several years after the units had been sold.

He cited as example the flats at Jalan Arang, which were sold about 20 years ago, but have not been issued titles yet.

Other projects, he said, were Taman Sri Jaya in Matang, Sri Mahmud, Taman Malihah, Rancangan Perumahan Rakyat (RPR) Siburan and at Mile 13 Kuching-Serian road.

Chong, who is also Kota Sentosa state assemblyman, urged the relevant authorities to solve the problem faced by the house buyers as soon as possible.
