KOTA SAMARAHAN: The inaugural “Konsert Ibu Pertiwiku 2017” held in conjunction with the 81st birthday celebration of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Unimas’ 25th anniversary went live on RTM 1 starting at 8.30pm to 10.30pm tonight.
Among the artists performing include Dayang Nurfaizah, Hafiz Suip and Noraniza ldris, who are accompanied by the orchestra from RTM Angkasapuri and kombo D’ Aspirasi from RTM Kuching.
Held at the Arena Gemilang DeTar Putra, Unimas, the concert is divided into three different segments to portray Sarawak’s progression since the pre-development era through songs, poetry and music.
Among the other objectives of the concert is to provide local musicians, dancers and singers a platform to deliver an unforgettable performance live on television.
Prior to the concert, Taib also performed a cake-cutting ceremony in conjunction with his birthday at the VVIP holding room.
Also present at the concert are Taib’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Seri Panglima Salleh Tun Said Keruak, state secretary Tan Sri Morshidi Ghani, Unimas vice-chancellor Prof. Datuk Kadim Suaidi and other VIP guests.
