Ex-lecturer in lock-up for humiliating PM by modifying image

KUALA LUMPUR: A former lecturer at a private university was detained by police on suspicion of humiliating the prime minister and his wife by modifying an image on the social media.

Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the 58-year-old male suspect was detained at his residence in Jalan Dang Wangi, here at 9.45 pm yesterday.

The suspect was detained to help in investigation and the case was being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“I advise the public not to upload any remark or image which can bring shame to others,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said the suspect was remanded three days from today until Tuesday. -Bernama
